Program Note

              The title of this work comes from my experience in creating the video: I was playing with water in my kitchen. Inspired by my love of baking and decorating cakes, I was curious to see what I could do with just food coloring and water, the elements that make up most of the video. The process of creating the video was one of play and experimentation, seeing what would happen as I mixed food coloring with water in liquid, solid, and steam forms. All film and audio recordings were taken in my kitchen. This work was composed in spring 2021 with the support of a grant from the Michigan State University College of Music.
